In Hrisikesh, 356 m above the sea level, Ganges is leaving Himalayas and flows into India's lowlands. Hrisikesh is known as very peaceful place.

3 x bigger image in new window Hrisikesh has very good conditions for yoga studies and meditation. Therefore one can find many ashrams there.
3 x bigger image in new window Triveni-ghat is the main ghat in Hrisikesh. The underground confluence of Yamuna Sarasvati is said to be there.

It is about 250 km from Hrisikesh and Haridwar to Gangotri and Gomukh.

There are many small temples in Sapta-rishi ashram. Ganges is said to divide here into seven branches to please seven rishis meditating in this area.
